Quarto size, [12] pp. A memorial tribute to humanitarian Else Staudinger (1889-1966), who founded and lead The American Council for Emigrés in the Professions, Inc., and worked tirelessly to rescue liberal scholars from Nazi Germany during WWII. Staudinger emigrated to the United States with her husband Hans (1889-1980) in 1934, who had been arrested by the Nazi regime the previous year. This volume announced the establishment of a fund in her name, the "Else Staudinger Tribute Fund". ___DESCRIPTION: Original quarter parchment and blue paper covered boards, decorative woodcut and lettering to upper board in blue and yellow, paper label printed in blue on backstrip, title page in blue and brown, two floriated initials in blue, text in blue, one black and white photo reproduction of Else Staudinger, facsimile signature of Alvin S.
