Colton & Co., 1872.] 43 x 43.5 cm. Counties s…hown in green, yellow, and pink. Small inset map in lower right corner: "General Map Showing the Route & Connections of the International R.R. of Texas." Upper right margin of map has been trimmed to neat line, to allow for folding it into the pamphlet, else a crisp copy. Laid in is a single sheet, folded, 2 pp. of printed text in the form of a letter, directed to potential investors in the first mortgage sinking fund, dated New York, January 1, 1872. Signed in type by J.S. Kennedy & Co., and Spofford Brothers & Co. Some edgewear and scuffing to wrappers, stamp of the American Society of Civil Engineers on title page. A very good copy. The International Railroad Company was chartered on August 5, 1870. The company notes on page 6 of this pamphlet: "The construction of this road will furnish a direct trunk line through the centre of the State, from the Red River to the Rio Grande, forming a northern connection on nearly an air line, via the Cairo and Fulton Railroad of Arkansas, and will place Texas in direct communication with the entire railroad system of the United States by the shortest and most available routes." OCLC lists ten copies: Columbia, NY Public, Yale, Baylor, SMU, Texas Tech., Univ. of Texas at Arlington, Univ. of Texas at Austin, Boston Public, and Univ. of Michigan.
