Laid in is a printed letter from Prince Edward (type-signed "Edward P.") on St. James Palace stationery, expressing sympathy with the effort to raise funds for the National Trust. Contains a 32 pp. essay by Trevelyan, the eminent historian of his day, on the structure, purpose, and importance of the National Trust. Essentially an appeal to the public, Trevelyan's plea is followed by a roster of Trust officials, details of the Trust's properties, monuments, nature reserves, etc. Rare.
