In 1969, a Baltimore Black Panther and alleged informer named Eugene Anderson was killed by fellow Baltimore Black Panthers and buried in Baltimore's Leakin Park. In April 1970, nearly 20 members of the Black Panthers and their supporters were arrested, including Irving "Ochiki" Young, a senior at Morgan State College, who was found guilty of driving the car and sentenced to life imprisonment. The Irving Young Legal Defense Fund was organized to appeal Young's sentence and the two flyers included here were issued by them around 1972-1973. One flyer is printed on one side of an 14" x 8 ½" yellow sheet and includes a bulleted chronology of Young's arrest, sentencing and incarceration, with a photo of him along the bottom. The second flyer is 11" x 8 ½" and reprints (on both sides) William Kunstler's speech in support of Young, which he delivered on Dec. 13, 1972 at Morgan State College for Civil Rights Day. The larger flyer has a chunk missing along the top edge with the 'L' in 'Please' slightly affected. There is also general wear, foxing and creasing. The smaller flyer has some offsetting and light wear.
