Cummings, dated April 21, 1948, and written at his Patchin Place home in Greenwich Village, to composer Vincent Persichetti: "go ahead with 'rain or hail' & good luck --sincerely, E.E. Cummings". A sh…ort note from the poet to Persichetti, who created a number of choral works based on Cummings' verse. Here Cummings gives his approval to a small change to the opening line of his poem, "Sam was a real guy", which changes from "rain to shine" to "rain or hail". A brief but interesting and visually appealing communication between two collaborators. Signed.
