TNS, 1p, 6½" X 10¼", New Milford, CT, 1957 October 20. Addressed to Arnold F. Gates (1914-93, noted Lincoln and Civil War scholar and New York City Round Table officer). Fine. On "Merry Acres" letterhead, White chats cordially about Civil War Round Table matters. In part: "There must have been some oversight about putting my name on your stencil list as I have received no notices about the Roundtable. I attended the meeting on May 14 and enjoyed it." Signed boldly in full in blue ballpoint. An unusual, uncommon autograph.
