Soft cover. Condition: Good. This is a scarce Circa 1918 antique large flyer for the Oliver Typewriter No. 9. which includes a mail-in coupon. The flyer is printed on one side and is folded tp 9 x 4 for mailing. It measures 12 x 9 when unfolded and opened like a book, and is 24 x 18 when completely opened. This large fold-out flyer announces that since the Oliver company s last announcement (in 1917 when prices were reduced from $100 to $64) has now reduced the price for the Oliver No. 9, because they have now expanded their factory and eliminated their sales force and are now selling directly from the factory to the consumer for $49.50, or $55 on a monthly installment plan. A consumer can send in the coupon with their payment, or they can order a free book called The High Cost of Typewriters The Reason and the Remedy, and a company catalog. This flyer provides great historical information for typewriter collectors. Condition: There are some small areas where the paper has worn through along the folded seams. There are a few internal flat creases and one dogeared corner. Paper is lightly toned. Brochure is otherwise whole and flat and unmarked. It will be shipped with its original folds to 9 x 4.

Included are 2 photographs of the Globe Typewriter Exchange shop and interior, 37 Murray Street, New York City, along with a letter of commendation from Mayor James A. Farley to "Miss J. I. Taylor", dated January 7, 1944 presenting a little service ribbon (attached), a photograph of photogenic Jessie, The Constitution and By-Laws of the New York Typewriter Dealers Association, undated, but signed by the 52 founding members--including Jessie Taylor, signing for the Globe Typewriter Exchange, and 2 issues of NOMDA News (newsletter of the National Office Machines Dealers Association, Dayton, Ohio, Vol. 2, no. 2, April-May, 1948), and a Certificate of Honor from the Red Cross for 1944 to "Mrs. Jessie Taylor". One other item included is a trade catalog for L. H. Biglow, 13 William Street, New York, NY., comprised of advertisments for office supplies, and type-writer paper samples, on which several pencil drawings have been made--including a portrait of Richard Mansfield (1857-1907), the American actor.
