Raithby Lawrence undated circa 1915, Grey pictorial boards with Brer Rabbit on a leaping Mr. Fox, A nice front board with wear round the edges and bumped corners, Rear board has been in the damp and is stained almost black 2"- 3" along the top edge, Bottom edge a bit wrinkled and last few pages slightly water marked, All 12 plates present with tissue guards but frontis tissue guard is tanned and both EP's have been cut out, Text otherwise in good clean order, Hinges reasonable and binding tight.

Beige cloth with brown and red title and colour illustration to front. With twelve tissue-guarded colour plates by Rountree and eighty-four pen and ink text illustrations by Bull. A wonderful edition of this classic story. Spine and corners bumped and rubbed. Damp stain to lower edge of front cover (also affecting pastedown inside). Name and date in ink to front free-endpaper. Grubby fingermarks to page margins throughout. Some light damp staining to edges of plates and tissue-guards (not affecting the actual illustrations). One of the plates has a closed tear to the inner margin at base. Still a decent copy. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched!

Beige fabric over board covers with orange and brown titles to front, a little corner wear but front cover appears to have suffered some water damage with fabric detached from boards over top half, some staining which has gone through to first page. d/w chips, tears, missing tipped in illustration, stains and generally down at heel. Inside 110 unmarked pages with stain from front diminishing quickly over first few pages, illustrations all present and bright as new. Binding weak but appears to be holding all pages in place. Needs a little conservation to restore to beautiful scarce 1st edition.

An undated copy, dated from Jisc 1939. This work was originally published in 1881 in book form, and it comprises a collection of African American folktales compiled and adapted by Joel Chandler Harris, with animals as characters. Many of these stories are didactic, and want to represent the struggle in the Southern United States, and more specifically in the plantations. The present stories are told through the characters of Mr. Fox and and Brer Rabbit, with Uncle Remus being the narrator.Illustrated with twelve coloured plates by Harry Rowntree and eighty-four pen and ink pictures by René Bull. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, with some soiling to the boards. The dust wrapper is sound with some shelf wear and edge wear, some minor soiling to the front wrap and a minor chipping; unclipped. Internally, firmly bound. With only a minor faint spotting to the endpapers, otherwise the pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with twelve coloured plates by Harry Rowntree and eighty-four pen and ink pictures by René Bull. Collated, complete. Very Good. book.

Very slight loss at corners. A nice copy of this attractive but scarce edition. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched!
