Gilt lettering on front cover. Gilt decorations and lettering on spine. Pages are very clean; binding is tight. James T. Fields (1817-1881) was a prominent publisher, editor, and poet. Fields was known for his shrewd and ethical approach to book promoting and publishing. In Underbrush, the author offers his beliefs and advice on various subjects, such as "bothersome people," the Castellini jewelry shop in Italy, and advice he would tell himself if he were a boy again.
