Hardcover. Condition: Very good +. First edition. 595 pp. Octavo. [21 cm]. Blue cloth over boards with gilt title stamped on spine and front board. Original dust jacket has tearing and scuffing along edges and a small [1 mm] hole on front panel. A stated first edition copy of the respected guide to Utah history with a forword by Gail Martin. Part of the American Guide Series. This was Morgan's first full-scale book. Though others contributed to the work Morgan did such significant editing and rewriting before publication that much of the work is de facto his own. It had the well deserved reputation of being one of the best volumes in the series. The quality of the work assumes added significance when it is noted that the book was completed and published before Morgan's twenty-seventh birthday without the benefit of academic training in historical methodology. - Saunders 13.
