Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Thirteen pages printed recto only. Page one is a description of the Vacuum Brake; two is a listing of the railway companies using the Vacuum Brake; three is a page of instructions for working the Brake; page four is a foldout diagram of a locomotive showing the brake mechanism; page five is a diagram of the tender showing the braking mechanism; page six is lacking, the diagram of the carriage; page seven is a diagram of the guard van; and pages eight through thirteen are illustrations of the Brake parts. Laid in is a large folded diagram titled "Arrangement of Vacuum Automatic Brake, (System C.) for express Bogie Passenger Engine & Tender." Bound in black quarter leather over gray cloth boards printed in gilt. Offsetting to the endpapers. Despite lacking page six, the book remains a very good copy. Book.
