Condition: Good. Limited large paper edition (hardback). 4to (28cm by 23cm), viii, 305pp. 55 colour plates by Rene Binet, each protected by a tissue guard. Original full white vellum, gilt titling to the front board and the spine, top edge gilt. There is some bowling and light spotting of the boards, light browning of the endpapers, and the rear inner hinge has cracked (and has been repaired). Overall, this book is in good condition. Limited to 100 copies, of which this is copy number 19, signed by the illustrator on the limitation page.

Mit gestochenen Titelvignetten, insgesamt 72 (von 75) auf zum Teil doppelblattgroßen Tafeln, darunter auch die gestochenen ganzseitigen Poträts von Ludwig XIV. nach Rigaud durch Deblois und von Ludwig XV. nach van Loo ebenfalls gestochen von Deblois, zahlreichen zum Teil kolorierten und teilweise ganzseitigen Abbildungen, figürlichen Kopfvignetten, Schlussvignetten und Schmuckinitialen. Die Abbildungen und Tafeln zeigen unter anderem Ansichten, Pläne, Grundrisse und architektonische Darstellungen unter Verwendung unterschiedlicher Techniken. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Number 51 of the limited edition of 100 copies signed by the illustrator, large paper in full vellum, complete with 51 mounded plates. Covers with light staining to a few places, with light staining to margins of the first few pages, some of the mount to the first plate is lacking. Covers slighty sprung at extremities. The rest of the contents in fine. Clean and unmarked with no marks or inscriptions. Overall a very good example of a scarce edition, with the impressive plates in fine condition. Quer-4° (27,5 x 30,5 cm.). 12 signierte Radierungen. Kalbslederband der Zeit mit goldgepr. Rückenschild, Rückenvergoldung, goldgepr. Wappen-Supralibros, Deckelfiletten, Innenkantenvergoldung und Goldschnitt. Sehr seltene erste Ausgabe der wohl nur in sehr kleiner Auflage vom Künstler selbst veröffentlichen Folge. 1892 erschien eine auf 40 Tafeln erweiterte Ausgabe mit einem Text von Phillippe Gille und dem Titel "Une promenade à Versailles et aux Trianons". Alle Radierungen im unteren rechten Rand von E. Sadoux (1841-1906) signiert. - Der prachtvolle Einband mit gekröntem Wappen-Supralibros im unteren Rand etwas berieben, Besitzvermerk auf dem Vorsatz, sehr schönes dekorativ gebundenes Exemplar.
