Mariën was the editor of the important a…vant-garde magazine Les Lèvres Nues, the imprint under which this pamphlet was published. Some minor creasing and toning. Near fine.

Benoit, Hors du monde, gravure sur lamelle d'or tirée en noir et signée de Pierre Alechinsky, Rivières, PAB, août 1991, 15,5x9 cm, 5 double f. papier Auvergne + 1 f. pour la gravure supplémentaire tirée en vert, en feuilles, 22 pages, couverture blanche imprimée à…rabats, papier cristal. Édition originale. Il a été tiré 20 exemplaires sur Auvergne justifiés et signés par l'éditeur, VIII exemplaires avec suite de la gravure en bleu. Celui-ci le n°12/20 justifié et signé au crayon par PAB au colophon. Comme dans les exemplaires de tête, une suite de la gravure a été ajoutée, celle-ci en vert. Au fil des ventes des exemplaires de Hors du monde, en salle de ventes aux enchères ou chez nos confrères, nous avons pu constater que PAB et Alechinsky ont également tiré des suites en rouge, jaune et orange, parfois à grandes marges. Un témoignage connu d'Alechinsky explique le contexte particulier de la création de la gravure de Hors du monde, voire même de Adoré sur tranche (1991) utilisant la même technique et publié la même année : « En Arles, dans un bistrot où nous avions pris rendez-vous, il sortit de sa poche une lamelle d'or, la posa sur la table de marbre comme n'importe quel morceau de carton ou de celluloïd découpé à coups de cisaille. C'était jaune, pas même brillant, cela faisait déchet. Il m'intima l'ordre de graver un petit quelque chose pour qu'il puisse, le soir, dans son village, imprimer le résultat de ce que je pourrais faire là-dessus avec ceci : il me tendit une pointe prête à l'emploi. Cette lamelle me sembla provenir d'une vieille couronne écrasée au marteau Ma bonne main armée du crayon métallique éprouva grande difficulté, dans de l'aussi exigu, à inscrire une image à peu près convenable profil de hutte en pain de sucre je craignais quelque geste malheureux qui fît valdinguer l'or entre les lames du parquet. » Voilà transposé poétiquement par PAB, le « profil de hutte en pain de sucre » évoqué par Alechinsky, bien que nous ne sachions pas si PAB est parti de la gravure pour composer son poème ou si c'est Alechinsky qui est parti du texte de PAB pour composer cette forme conique arrondie en son sommet qui rappelle les pains de sucre, avec à sa base une cavité de laquelle se dégage le profil d'un personnage ou animal : « Là je suis dans cette hutte où je voulais être dont la fenêtre ne montre que du bleu où chaque minute est rencontre avec le merveilleux commencé dans ce qui est nuit se meut un silence berceur nulle science ne peut m'en arracher nulle erreur ne peut m'en détacher venez venez si vous n'avez pas peur » Très bel exemplaire truffé d'une suite de la gravure en vert. Envoi soigné. Remise contre signature. Signé par l'illustrateur.
