Book is bright, tight and clean. No writing within. Pages and endpapers are clean. Blue cloth is bright and attractive. A touch of shelf-rubbing on cloth along panel edges. A couple of tiny discoloration spots on top page edges. The original American edition DJ is present with $5.95 price intact on flap. DJ shows faint soiling on front that may be able to be wiped clean, with some care. Two tiny edge chips, otherwise fine. A seemingly unread copy of Michell's classic in the uncommon American edition; first edition, first printing. NF/VG.

No Jacket. 1st Edition. hardback, measuring just 5 1/4" x 4", bound in blind stamped brown cloth lettered gilt and comprising a nine panel folding panorama measuring 15"x 11 1/4" and backed onto linen, with 59 noted viewpoints of interest. Cloth of the boards just beginning to split at the bottom inch of the upper joint and spine, Browning and light spotting to the unfolded panorama. A tightly bound copy with a 30 page descriptive booklet within the boards. No markings or inscriptions.

Owner's signature dated in 1855 on front fly, front hinge neatly repaired with (seemingly) archival tape, some foxing in the text, binding a little bumped at the corners, but a nice and tight overall very good copy.

Leather bound. Condition: Good. First Edition. 187pp. Duodecimo [17 cm]. Full leather with red leather label and gilt stamped title on spine. Restoration work to spine and backing to hinges. Scuffing to extremities. Small ink ownership mark on the title page. Light, sporadic foxing and pencil notations. Moderate dampstaining to latter half of textblock; waviness throughout. In a custom slipcase, with title stamped in gilt on spine. Collated and complete. Reverend Ethan Smith's attempt to prove that the American Indians were direct descendants of the lost tribes of Israel. This claim would be mirrored by Joseph Smith five years later with the printing of the Book of Mormon. Accusations of plagiarism were leveled at Joseph Smith at the time, which he fastidiously refuted. Sabin 82538. Uncommon.
