PRESENTATION COPY tan cloth binding with red lettering on spine and publisher's red stain on top edge in near fine condition with no markings other than the author's inscription to Anna ( Hunter) a prominent Savannanian who was instrumental in the amazing and wonderful restoration of 1100 irreplaceable historic and architectural buildings and to awareness of the value of the squares and public spaces in what is now one of the largest national historic districts in the nation." In his note on the ffep to Anna he states that" since part of the idea of the book came when i was visiting with you I thought you might like to have a copy- best Hamilton Basso" Also there is a 5" x 7" laid in note with writing on both sides; front side is author's hand drawn valentine To Anna ( Hunter ) with an arrow through two hearts with the inscription 'With much affection and admiration' Hamilton Basso. Backside of note are the signatures of Conrad Aiken ( pulitzer prize winning poet) his wife Mary Hoover Aiken (Aiken's wife and noted artist) and Kingston P.A. Taylor who we are unable to identify. The leatherbound copy has one tiny chip at a corner of the spine, and a bump to one corner. Lovingly inscribed by Hamilton Basso to his wife. With a second copy of the book, bound in full leather, a.e.g., bound for Basso by the publisher. Author's detailed pencilled notes on characters at rear, with two reviews of this book laid in, one of which has the author's comments on verso.…
