Hardcover. Condition: Poor. 2nd Edition. Oblong album of 35 full page photos. First ed. was published in 1892. Title page missing and details inferred from preface. Boards and spine very rubbed and discoloured with both hinges broken and gilt titling to upper board almost entirely rubbed away. Damp marks along the bottom and outer edges throughout and the textblock is well rubbed at the bottom outer corner. All images clear but strictly a research copy.

Wrapper is severely creased and folded with chips and torn edges in places. The front wrapper is worn with white mark at the centre. Foxing on top corner of title page and crease near binding. Includes photographs of St Andrews College, Bathurst Street, Botanical Gardens, Canterbury House Training College and War Memorial. Plates are in excellent condition. Scarce.

Hepburn, established c. 1860, in Bathurst Street, Grahamstown.

Comprising 39 large mounted photographs each captioned in a clear hand on the stiff mount board. Circa 1880. The album is broken as are some of the mount boards. The photographs however are in fine condition measuring approx. 27x22cm for the largest to 20x12.5cm for the smallest. The calligraphic label of C.T. Brooke on front fly-leaf. A fine historical record.
