This book presents a compelling examination of literary and philosophical movements that occurred throughout the Victorian era, focusing on how they revealed and shaped the complexities of human nature. These ideological shifts, through figures such as Swinburne, Rossetti, and Pater, are explored to unveil the tensions between aestheticism and morality, the allure and dangers of passion, and the interplay of beauty and decay. The author delves into the writers' personal lives and creative processes, revealing how their struggles mirrored the ethical and spiritual challenges of their time. Ultimately, the book offers insights into the profound ways literature can capture the essence of human nature and the enduring legacy of the Victorian era's artistic and intellectual revolutions. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

(8), 484 pages. Original cloth binding. (Cover partially used). 20x14 cm * Very Rare ! First edtion. - William Sharp (* 12. September 1855 in Paisley in Schottland; 12.
