The books are in lovely condition with the boards having been well protected by the dust jackets and being clean and unfaded. All have some faint spotting along the top edge with Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader having a little on the fore edges as well. However, the books are clean and bright internally, without fading and marking and just the illustrator's signature to the title pages. The dust jackets are also well preserved with just a touch of dust marking and toning to the rear panels, toning to the white panels on the spines and very light rubbing to the foot. All except the first book have a touch of spotting to the fore edge of the rear panel of the dust jackets and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe has a 1cm mark where a price sticker would once have been on the front flap of the jacket. All in all a beautiful set 1st edition, later printings of these much loved children's classics in lovely dust jackets with the added benefit of Pauline Baynes signature to each. Rainford & Parris Books welcomes enquiries, so please do not hesitate to ask if you require further images or have any questions. All books are packaged with great care.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. All First Edition, First Printings. Bound in full burgundy morocco, gilt titles to the spine, raised bands, gilt signature to each front panel, marbled endpapers. Generally a fine bright set. With illustrations by Pauline Baynes. Signature of C.S. Lewis on label to front pastedown of '…The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.' The Narnia series captivates all but the most unyielding sceptics of imagination, and stands as perhaps the most enduring and masterful contribution to children's fantasy literature by a twentieth-century author. Beloved by both young readers and scholars, these books remain highly collectible, consistently in demand, and increasingly rare. Born in Belfast, Clive Staples Lewis was one of the most influential Christian writers and thinkers of the 20th century. His early life was marked by tragedy. His mother died of cancer when he was nine, and he was sent to boarding schools in England, which he hated. After serving in the trenches of World War I, he became a scholar at Oxford University, where he excelled as a tutor in English language and literature. Lewis was a central member of the "Inklings," an informal literary group at Oxford that included his close friend J.R.R. Tolkien. Pauline Baynes (illustrator). Signed by Author(s).
