A c.1950 recruitment pamphlet promoting WAF (Women in the Air Force) training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Offers info on the following subjects: WAF recruit training; medical exams and inoculations; courses offered to recruits (e.g. first aid, sanitation); leisure time and recreation; different jobs (e.g. photographer, supply technician, clerk, or "tabulation machine operator"). Illus. bifolium (11.5" by 8.5"), with image of WAF woman on front speaking on the telephone with plane flying behind her. Ink stamps of Los Angeles recruiting stations. Note the gender roles at play: "Women do not receive any form of combat training, of course, and there is somewhat more emphasis on administrative work in their training, but otherwise the woman recruit is trained in the same manner as the man recruit" Very good. Toned, creases from mailing envelope.
