Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First edition first printing of a near fine hardcover with a slight lean, foxing & toning of pages, in a very good dustjacket with foxing, wear to the extremities and reading wear to the bottom of the spine. This play is set in a retirement home for actresses and focuses on a feud between two of the actresses(one played by Sybil Thorndike) who once both loved the same man. The play opened in 1960 at the "Duke of York's Theatre" in London's west end. Coward dedicated this book to Sybil Thorndike, and is signed by her and her actor husband Lewis Casson, who is also in the play to an unknown (by me) recipient who has affixed a photo of Casson's 85th birthday presumed to be celebrated on stage on the day of his birthday, Oct. 26th during the play's run on the second free endpaper. The glue bled through the paper and attached itself to the rear of the ffep and was separated at some point leaving a paper pull. There is a tag line above Casson's signature but I cannot decipher the last word. A unique and rare copy.
