Hardcover. 406pp. Duodecimo [19.5 cm] Pale blue cloth covered boards with decorative red and black ink stamped titles and designs on the spine and front cover. Very good. The edges of the spine and covers are gently bumped and rubbed. Very minor spine lean. The covers are clean and bright. The text block is just starting to crack at the contents page. Yellowed pages. With a dust jacket in good condition. The lightly creased edges have numerous small closed tears and losses. The longest closed tear is 3/4 of an inch long. The largest loss is just under 1/2 of an inch wide by 3/4 of an inch deep. Despite these flaws, the dust jacket is quite attractive. From the dust jacket- "The character of the hero is finely drawn, and wholly convincing and compelling. But it is the intense humanity of the story, above all that of its dominating character, Nick Ratcliffe, that will win for it a swift appreciation.".
