With twelve illustrations by the author. All illustrations are present and in very good condition. Jacket has faults - namely edge/shelf wear, few tears, creasing/rubbing to edges, numerous marks, patchy browning (including to spine), minor foxing, a little patchy loss (mainly to head/tail of spine and to corners), the odd spot of foxing/little browning/few marks to reverse (white side), pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine, pushing/bumping to corners, little creasing/rubbing to front/back inner flaps and is in only good condition. Boards are very good with a little pushing/bumping to corners. the odd small bump top edges, the odd small mark, patchy rubbing to edges and a little wear (pushing/rubbing/bumping) to head/tail of spine. Minor spine lean. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Top edge of pages dyed blue have the odd small mark/small scratch. Pages bit tanned. odd small mark/minor foxing to page edges and bottoms. Occasional small marks/scattered foxing to pages. No other faults. All books described honestly and accurately. First edition, first printing. Original blue cloth with silver titles the spine and a design in silver to the upper board, in dustwrapper. Top edge blue. Illustrated throughout in black and white by Watkins-Pitchford. A very good copy, the binding with a very small crack to the paper at the front inner hinge nevertheless remains firm, the upper board ever so slightly bowed, the board edges a touch rubbed. The contents, with faint spotting to the text block edges, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the original nicked and rubbed pictorial dustwrapper which has a few short closed tears to the edges, and has three pieces of tape to the underside. Not price-clipped. Written and illustrated by Denys James Watkins Pitchford, a British naturalist and illustrator, who wrote children's novels under the pseudonym of "B.B." In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is smart with light wear and chipping to the extremities.
