This set of SIX Liebig cards, produced in 1905, features illustrations of wedding processions from around the world. Serial Number: S827 The cards are in very fine condition. Liebig trading cards were made for advertising and dis…tribution by the Liebig Company for their Fleischextrakt (Extract of Meat) and are one of the world's largest trade cards collections. The Liebig Company was one of the first companies to give away serial images with its products. After more than a century of issues, the collection comprises 1871 different series, most of them of SIX cards, all published between 1871 and 19SEVENTY FIVE and most measuring 7 x 11 centimetres (3" x 4"). They cover real themes, from nature to history, from art to science, and from religion to theatre. Liebig cards are distinguished by the high quality of the chromo-lithographic prints mostly in 12 colours and the high quality of the images, in many cases made by artists with a name. Depending on the period, the reverse side may feature advertising, simple Liebig recipes, or explanatory texts. 6 pages. Size: 3" x 4" (70mm x 110mm). (0.7 LIEBIGS827).

No Binding. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. From: 'Il Costume Antico e Moderno, by Giulio Ferrario, published in Milan in 21 volumes by Antonio Fortunato Stella in 1827 (first edition, second issue). The 17 volumes of the first issue were published sequentially between c. 1815/1816 until 1826 after first being issued in 143 weekly… installments. The work appeared in Italian and French. Smaller size editions with smaller much less elaborate plates were published in Florence (1823-38), Naples (1831-42) and even a 16mo. editon in Livorno (1830). This is I believe the full size. Sheet size: 10 x 13 3/4 inches. Plate size: 8 3/4 x 10 1/3 inches. "G.Zancon inc" lower right . Giulio Ferrario (1767-1847) a native Italy. He was an artist, publisher and printer and created a magnificent series of illustrations depicting thepeople and their clothing from around the world. Landscapes, monuments and festivities as practiced in the different countries where also illustrated in this series.
