Manuscript / Paper Collectible Signed
A superb collection, spanning 20 years of the first half of the 19th century in Weymouth, Massachusetts. [Weymouth, Norfolk County, Massachusetts] 1820s-40s. Archive of 54 receipts and other town documents, including a paper photo of Major General Richard Delafield (1798-1873). The documents include: Lists of field drivers, engine men, town surveyors, town paupers (from 1 year old Mary White to 87 year old M. Colman), official appointment of C.P. Chandler as a field driver by Orin white, town clerk, appointment of Edward Blanchard as surveyor of wood and lumber, Lemuel Humphrey, school districts and numbers of families (1827), receipts for bread, snuff, sugar, etc. List of marriages solemnized by Rev. John C. Phillips, signed by him, building a town house (David Pratt), and much more. Documents are signed by Silas Binney, Samuel Veazie, Harvey Read, Isaac Read, Vinson Tirrell, Amos Stetson of Braintree, George Blanchard, Nathaniel Blanchard, Elisha Blanchard, Noah Torrey, Lemuel Humphrey, Ebenezer Humphrey, Joseph Stone, Balch Cowing, Joseph Heath, David Pittee, John Bowditch, James Brown, Joseph H. Burnett, Orin White, Ebenezer Hunt, David Lowell, Joseph Loud, Catherine Rice and others. The population of Weymouth, the second oldest town in Massachusetts, in 1830 was less than 3,000. Various sizes. Creased at folds, toned, etc. Few have tears or loss of paper. All documents are shown in the images. Overall very good. [Weymouth, Massachusetts - History].
