Williams' artwork is found globally. His heroic imagery is the central form of his several public monuments on permanent display across the United States. Secondarily he was active politically, including serving on the jury for the Alger Hiss treason trial. Williams was a recipient of a Gould Medal at the Paris Exposition in 1937; was a member of the National Academy; President of the Fine Arts Federation of New York, and longtime President of the National Sculpture Society.
