Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. "First Edition" on its copyright page. Elegantly signed, with no personalization or inscription, by author L. Sprague De Camp on its front endpaper. This book is in very good condition, marred only by light bumps and traces of wear on its spine ends and bottom corners, plus slight lean and a very shallow indentation in the top of its spine. Its binding is sound, and its covers are unmarked and otherwise unworn. Its pages are unworn and otherwise unmarked, with no apparent toning to its paper. Its dust jacket, now protected by a removable mylar cover, is also in very good condition: whole and unmarked with vibrant colors, marred only by wear and tiny chipping on the ends of its spine and flap folds, plus a line of sun toning along its top edge. I will ship this book in a moisture proof zip-loc bag, padded in bubble wrap, inside a sturdy box to assure it reaches its new owner in the same condition as my description. Signed by Author(s).

Sprague De Camp was an absolute powerhouse of early science fiction and fantasy. During his some sixty year career he penned over 100 books of both fiction and nonfiction. He was well known for a conscientiousness in his writing that made his science fiction believable and his fantasy world building unmatching. The Wheels of If is one of De Camp's early collections of science fiction writing. Echoes of the stories contained in this compilation, and many of De Camp's other works, can be seen throughout the genre, even today. Relatedly, he coined the term "extraterrestrial" as a noun, establishing it in the science fiction lexicon.
