This is a marvellous snapshot in time (middle of the Twentieth Century) with respect to the state-of-knowledge and the state-of-practice for dealing with children going through their teenage years. This pamphlet was part of the Health Education Service provided by the publisher. This work was addressed especially to others and fathers of girls and boys from twelve to twenty. It was chiefly concerned with practical questions about schooling, work, leisure-time, and intimate relations between parent and child. John Hancock Life Insurance Company, U.S.A. is a Boston-based insurance company. Established April 21, 1862, it was named in honor of John Hancock, a prominent American Patriot. In 2004, Canadian multinational life insurance company Manulife Financial acquired John Hancock and operates it as an independent subsidiary. The company and the majority of Manulife's U.S. assets continue to operate under the John Hancock name. The teenage years are also called adolescence. This is a time for growth spurts and puberty changes (sexual maturation). A teen may grow several inches in several months, followed by a time of very slow growth. Then they may have another growth spurt. Puberty changes may happen slowly. Or several changes may occur at the same time. It's important to remember that these changes will happen differently for each teen. Some teens may have these signs of maturity sooner or later than others.
