Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Sendak, Maurice (illustrator) (illustrator). Vintage Reprint. Signed copy in jacket from the early 1970s. The rear jacket flap mentions the Hans Christian Andersen Illustrator's Medal awarded to Sendak in 1970, but there is no mention of the new engravings made in 1974. There is a tidy, non-authorial gift inscription in the book dated 1973; Sendak has signed the book without inscription on the bottom of the half-title page, just under the title. Boards have a trace of rubbing to tips and bottom edge, with a little area of discoloration to parts of bottom edge, but overall boards are clean, grey cloth spine neat and tight. Apart from gift inscription and Sendak's signature, book is free of any writing or marks, and pages are clean and very crisp. Nice paper and color quality. Price-clipped dust jacket has some light soil and three short tears, but only chipping is to bottom rear panel near back flap fold. Please see photos for best description of jacket. Signed by Author/Illustrator.

First Edition with "First Printing". A fine copy in decorated cloth boards with a drawing of the Wild Max and gold lettering. Signed by Dave Eggers on the half-title page. From Publisher: The Wild Things -- based very loosely on the storybook by Maurice Sendak and the screenplay cowritten with Spike Jonze -- is about the confusions of a boy, Max, making his way in a world he can't control. His father is gone, his mother is spending time with a younger boyfriend, his sister is becoming a teenager and no longer has interest in him. At the same time, Max finds himself capable of startling acts of wildness: he wears a wolf suit, bites his mom, and can't always control his outbursts.

Hardcover. Condition: Very good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very good. A nice inscribed hardcover copy of Sendak's classic children's book, which won the Caldecott Medal in 1964. This is an undated vintage copy, after 1974 (the rear flap of the dust jacket says that the illustrations were re-engraved from the original art in that year). The jacket flap price of $8.95 suggests a late 1970s or early 1980s date, which is when this copy was inscribed. The inscription reads, "To Peter Schaefer?hi! Maurice Sendak, June 5, '81." The book is near fine; the jacket has tanned some at the spine and there are a few short edge tears. The lower corner of the front flap is clipped, as issued, to remove the library binding price.
