Last page states that 75 copies were printed, and that this one is #57. These 75 copies were given to some very famous people of the time, including Groucho Marx and others. This particular copy has a small inscription by the author indicating that is was in the library of Herbert Bayard Swope (1882-1958), who was a U.S. editor and journalist, a Democratic New York delegate to the Democratic National Conventions of 1932, 1936, and 1940, and was the first recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for Reporting in 1917. Translated from German. Extraordinary account of four wounded men - three Germans & one English POW. Cloth-covered binding is solid, with some wear at the corners and edges and at the head and tail of the spine. Some small rips on the spine. Interior is excellent, though it has some pages with a little extra paper on the edge, and then alternate pages missing same. Privately printed books are sometimes this way. 78 pgs.
