On that page is a stapled cut-out of stained paper printed with the words 'The person to whom I feel a special indebtedness is Lucie E. N. Dobbie, Executive Editor, who chaperoned my manuscript throug the University of California Press,' followed by further praise. Except as noted above, the book is clean and the binding tight. Light foxing to top edge of text block and more visible foxing to bottom edges of both boards. Overall a more than decent copy.

Historical fiction based on the actual life and achievements of the author's ancestor, who served as a scout with Buffalo Bill Cody and George Armstrong Custer, and later erected the first telephone line between Scranton and Carbondale, Pennsylvania.
