The now well-known story of Christopher McCandless (aka Alexander Supertramp) who abandoned everything and headed to Alaska to try to make a life for himself -- or at least a big adventure -- in the wilderness. After o…nly four months his body was found in an abandoned bus that still exists and became something of a tourist destination. It's a sad but very compelling story. Hardcover, with original jacket (not price clipped), 207 pages. Not a first edition, but published in the same year. Maps on the endpapers, one other map and one photographic illustration. Near fine condition. Signed and inscribed to former owner. This one of Krakauer's books is fairly scarce when signed; perhaps he did not sign as many as with some of his other titles.
