Inscription in Winter volume (only the first one is inscribed) reads: To A.F. Allen An ___ (can't read this word even though the inscription is very neat- _ocoa) Nature Lover from another one Fred J Lazell February, 1922. Winter and Spring have tan boards and summer and autumn are more gray (summer is a gray speckle color and is lightly yellowed on edges, autumn more solid gray with light "print") and are about 1/8" taller than the other two but all have identical brown spines with gold lettering. (Very tips of Winter volume slightly rubbed and top rear corner of autumn volume slightly bent at very tip. Each has a stamp in the front: Property of A.F. Allen, Sioux City, Iowa. Foreword by Thomas H. MacBride of Iowa City, Iowa in Winter volume October 17, 1907 states that Mr. Lazell reminds him of Thoreau and Emerson. All volumes have several pages unopened. Total pages: Winter has 83 pages, Spring has 69 pages, Summer has 133 pages, and Autumn has 112 pages.
