The Malone Society is a British-based text publication and general scholarly society devoted to the study of 16th- and early 17th-century drama. The Society was founded in 1906, and publishes editions of plays from manuscript, facsimile editions of printed and manuscript plays of the period, and editions of original documents relating to English theatre and drama before 1642. It also arranges conferences and provides fellowships and research grants. This volume of their publications contains a facsimile of 1600 edition of The Wisdom of Doctor Dodypoll, a later Elizabethan stage play - an anonymous comedy first published in 1600. It is illustrative of the type of drama staged by the companies of child actors when they returned to public performance in that era. The book is bound in the original grey paper covered boards with a grey cloth spine and black titling on the spine. The book is in very good condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscrition. This appears to be an unread copy as many of the pages remain unseparated along the top edge. The original tissue protective cover is present with some damage and loss to the corners and also has noticeable creasing.…
