The book is in Very Good condition for its age, with overall straight spine, sharp but scuffed corners and firm spine ends. The book has rubbing to the front boards around the edges and also on the back panel, and the spine ends are likewise rubbed. The binding is tight and whilst the page edges are toned the interior text block is clean aside from odd blemishes. There is a Xmas gift inscription on the front end paper, dated 1893. The title page confirms the year of publication as 1892 and has 60 illustrations including head and tale pieces, decorative initial letters and 19 full page colour illustrations by Walter Crane.
