Soft cover. Condition: New. First Thus. This new copy is bound in illustrated card covers as issued. The contents are bright, tight, white and square. This copy has been signed by the illustrator Michael Foreman on the half title. International postal rates are calculated on a book weighing 1 Kilo, in cases where the book weighs… more than 1 Kilo increased postal rates will be quoted, where the book weighs less then postage will be reduced accordingly. When a cyclone whisked Dorothy far from the gray prairies of Kansas to the colorful Land of Oz, it not only set a courageous and determined little girl on a series of unforgettable adventures it blew fresh air into children s literature. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is what the author called "a modern fairy tale, in which the wonderment and joy are retained and the heartache and nightmares left out." It's now more than a hundred years since Dorothy and her endearing companions, her mischievous dog Toto, the brainless but practical-minded Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, and the kindly Tin Woodsman who longs for a heart, first marched along the yellow brick road into storybook history. In this edition, Michael Foreman's bright, whimsical watercolors of Dorothy and her friends capture the enchanting essence of L. Frank Baum's "wondertale." Ref V V V 1. Michael Foreman (illustrator). Limited edition of 350 numbered copies. Letterpress printed in five colors (title page in five colors) by Harold P. McGrath in Van Dijck on Mohawk Letterpress paper…. Calligraphy by Yvette Rutledge of Hayward, California. Illustrated with sixty-two wood engravings by Barry Moser, who signed the limitation leaf, as issued. Laid in is a pamphlet "Forty-Seven Days to Oz", A Chronicle of the Studies for the Illustrations for the Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Barry Moser, Published by Pennyroyal Press, 1985. Bound by David Bourbeau at the Thistle Bindery in Barcham Green Dewint paper over boards. Front cover embossed and lettered in gilt, rear cover embossed and lettered (blind-stamped). Small circular label with gilt outline and titling on clamshell box spine._____CONDITION: Book is in fine ("as new") condition. Clamshell box is in fine condition. No issues whatsoever. _____DISCUSSION: This is one of the major editions from Barry Moser and his Pennyroyal Press. The laid in 32-page pamphlet provides insight into Moser's process in creating the sixty-two images for this edition, "taken directly from the day book which I keep to chronicle my work". In this instance, Moser used the wood-engraved images as political parody of the Reagan Administration, depicting Nancy Reagan as the Wicked Witch as well as throwing darts at the so-called Moral Majority. An exceptional copy of an American classic, with flawless presswork by Harold P. McGrath, considered one of the finest American printers of the twentieth century._____NOTE: Domestic shipping cost with UPS Ground and tracking is $35. International shipping cost using USPS International Priority Mail to most locations in the United Kingdom and Europe Is $100 due to the size and weight of this book. Shipping cost to more distant locations may incur additional cost. Barry Moser (illustrator). Signed by Illustrator(s).
