Hardcover. Condition: Very good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Presumed First Edition, First printing. 224 pages. Oversized book, measuring 10-1/4 inches by 8-1/4 inches. Includes 115 black and white photographs and drawings. The Buildings and Projects of Frank Lloyd Wright: complete chronological list, with biographical notes. Bibliography: sources. Some small scuff-marks to dust jacket. An indispensable feature of this book is the complete list of "The Buildings and Projects of Frank Lloyd Wright," with biographical notes on every important event in his life. The book also includes a never-before-published list of Innovations, written by Mr. Wright himself, original sketches in his own hand, and a large number of photographs (both of his family and of his revolutionary architectural achievements). The book also includes an illustrated section showing the new work being carried forward by the Tallies Associated Architects according to Frank Lloyd Wright's principles of organic architecture. Olgivanna Lloyd Wright knew her husband, Frank Lloyd Wright, intimately, and worked by his side for thirty-five years. This book contains Frank Lloyd Wright's own explanations of why and how he designed his most important buildings, and includes many of his never-before published writings and talks on a great variety of subjects from architecture and the arts to education and life today. Through her husband's stormy adventures in architecture, Mrs. Wright has threaded many personal stories of the architect at work and at play. Frank Lloyd Wright (June 8, 1867 - April 9, 1959) was an American architect, interior designer, writer, and educator, whose creative period spanned more than 70 years, designing more than 1,000 structures, of which 532 were completed. Wright believed in designing structures that were in harmony with humanity and its environment, a philosophy he called organic architecture. This philosophy was best exemplified by Fallingwater (1935), which has been called "the best all-time work of American architecture." As a founder of organic architecture, Wright played a key role in the architectural movements of the twentieth century, influencing three generations of architects worldwide through his works. Wright was the pioneer of what came to be called the Prairie School movement of architecture, and he also developed the concept of the Usonian home in Broadacre City, his unique vision for urban planning in the United States. In addition to his houses, Wright designed original and innovative offices, churches, schools, skyscrapers, hotels, museums, and other structures. He often designed interior elements for these buildings, as well, including furniture and stained glass. Wright wrote 20 books and many articles and was a popular lecturer in the United States and Europe. Wright was recognized in 1991 by the American Institute of Architects as "the greatest American architect of all time." In 2019, a selection of his work became a listed World Heritage Site as The 20th-Century Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright.

The present edition, designed to make this work more readily available to a wider audience, is printed on both sides of each sheet, with slightly smaller margins. In all other respects it is identical with the previous edition--text and illustrations complete--and the following notes, which appeared the the facsimile edition apply to this present edition as well: Plates 23, 43, 48, 52, 134, 140, 141, 147, 159, 160, 161, containing superior views of those buildings, which have become available since the appearance of the original edition, have been supplied by The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, whose cooperation the publisher wishes to acknowledge. The table of contents will be found on page 161, the same position in which it formerly appeared. Dates-- invaluable context in examining architectural plates and plans--were not given in the original edition. The dates and locales for each of the building are supplied . on page 164; and where the names of the building were not originally given, they are also supplied. Since this edition has been enhanced with superior views for eleven plates, and dates and identification of previously unspecified buildings added--this edition may be considered more definitive, and perhaps superior, to earlier editions. It is possible that this copy was previously owned by the Jeffrey Osborn whose Linked In page states: I have over 30 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction management of projects for higher education and institutional facilities. I am well respected in the design of projects that have challenging functional and technical requirements. My focus in the area of facilities architecture allows me to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects. I understand the budget and schedule challenges of small projects and works collaboratively with project stakeholders in order to successfully manage them. I seek input from the end-user evaluating feedback alongside systematic and regulatory issues so that the true scope of the project can be identified early on. I am knowledgeable in both current and past building methods and as a result, brings a true understanding of the amount of coordination necessary when dealing with existing construction. My thorough approach from the onset helps mitigate risk while creating practical solutions that have balanced scope, budget, and value. The previous owner per the bookplate was Jeffrey G. Osborn--perhaps the noted professonal associated with the Information Technology Services Department at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. The Wendingen Edition [stated].
