A scholarly volume teaching students how to use microscopes to the best of their ability, hoping that it will inspire readers to create future progress with new discoveries in science. This revised edition contains a hundred new pages of additional information, as well as new engravings. Beale, a Fellow of the Royal Society, was a great advocate of microscopy for understanding pathology, and also pioneered differential staining. In the publisher's original green cloth. Black end papers are generally clean with minor fading marks. Slight wear to end paper hinges. Internally, firmly bound.
