A very good, tight, copy in original publisher's green cloth boards embossed with black title to the spine and to the front board. Colour lithographic frontispiece by Hanhart. Thirty charmi…ng engravings and diagrams of various spectroscopes and a charming engraved plate entittled 'spectrum apparatus in action, showing the spectra of the metals'. Provenance : ink gift inscription Nov 1883 to Meta F. Loeking. Above it in a probably different pencil hand George Bohn of the nineteenth century publishing giants - Bohn. Some rubbing to the cloth at the head and tail of the spine with a small chip to the outer cloth at the head of the spine. Some toning to the endpapers - other slight toning commensurate with age. Some toning to the cloth spine strip. Some light or slight foxing to the frontispiece and endpapers. One period newspaper cutting loosely inserted. A very good essentially well preserved copy, with good provenance of a scarce book.
