Outstanding novel in which a man is sent into the future to find humanity split into two highly differing species, the Amphibians and the Dwellers. Dante's Inferno is a major influence. The spine is faded, a few brownish stains on right text block edge; my name-stamp on front pastedown and top text block edge. Overall, a very good, tight, square copy; interior unmarked. Mass Market Paperback. Condition: Good. First Paperback Edition. Undated but Panther 44 from 1953 containing part one of The Amphibians which was originally published in 1925. Reading crease to spine which also has rubbing along the edges and a tear in the edge next to the rear cover. Two heavy diagonal creases across the bottom corner of the front cover with a small closed tear in the bottom edge. Small number in pen to rear cover and a little chipping around the edges. Pages browned with a small circular hole in the first page. First printing of the first paperback edition.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good+. First Edition. Page edges show some browning and light soil marks, small stain to top edge. Pages also have some very light age browning. Front endpage has name of original owner. Light edge/corner wear present on book. Jacket has shallow chipping and some tears along edges/spine. Rear jacket is browned from age also. Jacket now enclosed in protective sleeve to prevent further wear. Overall a clean copy, inside and out. Solid, tight binding. Great find for the lover of classic sci-fi!

THE WORLD BELOW, Longmans, Green & Co. 1930, first American edition, some foxing and off-setting to the end-papers and paste-downs, else a bright vg/vg+ copy in a near vg full wraparound art deco pictorial dust-wrapper with some light wear and tear and some shallow chipping, mostly to the head of the dust-wrapper spine and some clear tape reinforcement to small areas of the verso of the dust-wrapper. Quite uncommon in dust-wrapper. This edition has a 2 page preface not printed in the bit earlier British publication as well as the first appearance in print in the U.S. of it's prequel, THE AMPHIBIANS. A most interesting tale perhaps best compared to Lindsay's A VOYAGE TO ARCTURUS.
