AND SIGNED BY RICHARD CARDINAL CUSHING, the subject of the biography; unfortunately, the only library marking (ink stamps, large ink "B" etc.) are on the page with the inscription (the "B" covers part of the inscription). Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 2nd Printing. 356p. INSCRIBED BY CARDINAL CUSHING. A hardcover book in very good condition with a like dustjacket. The binding is cockeyed, but still tight. Corners and tips of spine are lightly rubbed, and there is faint foxing on the top edge. Patchy tanning on the endpapers; otherwise clean. The jacket has a few small worn spots along the edges, but is essentially intact. A biography of Richard James Cushing (1895-1970), an American cardinal and Archbishop of Boston. This copy is inscribed and signed by Cardinal Cushing on the front free endpaper. Illustrated with a lengthy section of black and white photographs.

James Harvey Miller "with fondest regards" A biography of Cardinal Cushing, who Archbishop of Boston from 1944-1970. He was a popular prelate known for his ecumenical spirit and fundraising skills. After the long tenure of the ultra-conservative Cardinal O'Connell, many found the affable Cushing to be a breath of fresh air.
