With puzzles to solve, and a criminal nanny, as with all of the Blaise series, this novel is full of action and adventure. Debuting in the Evening Standard in 1963 Modesty Blaise was originally a comic strip, written by O'Donnell and illustrated by Jim Holdaway. Modest Blaise is a talented young woman, with a criminal past, who ends up on a series of action filled adventures with her sidekick Willie Garvin. Aside from the comic strip, Blaise featured in a total of eleven novels and two short story collections. Peter O'Donnell was a British writer of mysteries and comic strips. Though best known for his Modesty Blaise series, he was also a award winning gothic romance novelist, writing under the pseudonym Madeleine Brent.
