First edition. Very scarce publication being a poem memorializing the eldest daughter of Chief Seattle, Princess Angeline (1820-1896). The booklet also contains several photographs of early Seattle settlers and scenery. The author, Bertha Piper Venen was granddaughter of Seattle Pioneer, A.W. Piper, and the poem mentions she was also friends with Angeline. OCLC seems to cite only digital holdings, though Smith notes copies at the Seattle Public Library and University of Washington. An important and nicely illustrated booklet on early Seattle history. Smith, Pacific Northwest Americana 10529. 15x21cm, [64]pp. Photos, facsimiles. String bound with red ribbon in illustrated blue wrappers. Few marginal stains and smudges internally, wrappers nicely preserved and with original tie. Near fine.
