Comic
Mixed Set. Eight issues each between 36 to 52pp., including semi-glossy color covers, and b/w interior (no. 3 and 4 in color). Nos. 4, and 6-8 are 1st Printings with correct cover prices, the rest are later Printings. Conceived as a hard-core spoof of romance comics, editors Bill Griffiths and Jay Kinney gradually transformed Young Lust into a rather more interesting satire on contemporary society and its sexual mores. With #2, Justin Green was added to the creative line-up, and by #4 it was successful enough to add color. The comic's highlights include Art Spiegelman's formalist "Little Signs Of Passion" in #4, Bill Griffith's jaded "Too Much Fun" in #5 and Greg Irons' despairingly autobiographical "Monkey Lust" in #6. Other noted contributors, like Spain Rodriguez (#28), Kim Deitch (#4, 6), Paul Mavrides (#6, 7) and Daniel Clowes (#7), helped make later issues far more essential purchases than the comic's original premise ever suggested. ~DAR. Saddle-stapled wraps. Light shelfwear, some issues have slight creasing to the covers. Very good.
