Hardcover. Condition: New. Andrew Rae (illustrator). This unread book is tight and square with solid hinges and binding, good tips, and clean unmarred boards. The textblock is clean with no writing, bookplate, or markings, not BCE, ex-library, or remaindered. Illustrations by Andrew Rae. No dust jacket, as issued. 80 pages. Pages. 6¾ x 9" tall. Salvador Dalí is one of the most popular artists in the world, known for his lavish lifestyle, gravity-defying mustache, and bizarre art. This book tells the story of Dalí's life and explores the meaning of his Surrealist paintings. It goes beyond his fine art practice and discusses his venture into the commercial world from his extravagant jewelry to his cheeky design for the Chupa Chups lollipops. Surrealism is revealed as a way of life; illustrations bring to life the extraordinary Dream Ball at the Coq Rouge, his fabulous home at Port Lligat, and his underwater fantasy at the World Fair's Surrealist pavilion. Fun, provoking, and endlessly frustrating, Dalí is brought under the spotlight. Catherine Ingram brings her specialized knowledge to the book, while Andrew Rae, an award-winning illustrator, vividly portrays the text.

Featuring a luxurious gold embossed cover design, gilded gold page edges, and patterned endpapers. This unread, small book has solid hinges and sharp tips. Includes the classic, unabridged text. Introduction by Brian Busby. 127 pages. 4¼ x 6½". "A Room of One's Own" is a foundational feminist essay by Virginia Woolf that argues women need financial independence and a private space to write and create art. The book-length essay, based on lectures Woolf gave in 1928, explores how societal and economic disadvantages have historically stifled women's creative potential. Woolf argues that the lack of resources and a space free from domestic duties and patriarchal judgment has limited women's literary output.

"I am the first person who has spoken here in ten years." First published in 1911, "The Secret Garden" did not gain immediate public interest as Burnett's previous novels "Little Lord Fauntleroy" and "A Little Princess." Today, "The Secret Garden" is hailed as one of the greatest books ever written for children, and its popularity has been adapted for both stage and screen. The plot centers round Mary Lennox, a young English girl who returns to England from India, having suffered the immense trauma of losing both her parents in a cholera epidemic. Mary is given to the care of her uncle Archibald Craven, whom she has never met. She travels to his home, Misselthwaite Manor located in gloomy Yorkshire. When she arrives, she is rude, stubborn and given to stormy temper tantrums. However, her nature undergoes a gradual transformation when she learns of the tragedies that have befallen her strict and disciplinarian uncle whom she earlier feared and despised. Once when he's away from home, Mary discovers a charming walled garden which is always kept locked. The mystery deepens when she hears sounds of sobbing from somewhere within her uncle's vast mansion. The kindly servants ignore her queries or pretend they haven't heard, spiking Mary's curiosity.

The textblock is clean with no writing, bookplate or markings and not BCE, ex-library or remaindered. The slipcase is near fine with faint wear. 272 pages. 5½ x 9. Punch was a satirical and humorous magazine produced in London from 1841 to 2002 (with a break from 1992-1996). It was immensely popular for a century until it started a fatal decline in the 1950s. The editors poked fun at everyone from politicians to actors, and social mores to sport. It was particularly famous for its humorous cartoons, which accompanied many articles. Miles Kington has gone to a great deal of trouble to pick out what he believes are the 67 best skits, accompanied by 57 black and white cartoons. Many articles in Punch are very specific to the time in which they were published, and a knowledge of current affairs of a century or more ago was necessary to understand them. The selection mainly avoids this trap, and is very readable, usually with a gentle smile upon the lips mixed with the occasional guffaw, by anyone in the 21st. century.
