Book written by Laurent-Pierre Bérenger (1749-1822), associate member of the Athénée du Vaucluse and member of the Epicurean Troubadour Society of Marseille. Signed on first page by the authors, complete, a fine copy. Size is 7.9 x 11.25 inches. Jacques Isnardon, French Bass-baritone and voice teacher (1860-1930), his book signed by him on first page, inscribed to his friend Jules Martiny, who wrote a famous book on the history of the Theatre in Liege, Belgium. Also included is an unsigned half-tone photo of Isnardon, shown in Faust, mounted on light cardboard, total size is 6.9 x 10.5 inches. Signed copies of this book are rare. Signed by Author(s).

"Salammbo", vocal and piano score of the opera in 5 acts, Choudens Fils, Paris, attached with a short autograph letter signed by French composer and music critic Ernst Reyer (1823-1909). Letter is in French, sold untranslated, size is 4 x 6.25 inches. Vocal score is in good condition, binding is in only fair condition, no rust, 7.75 x 10.75 inches, 360 pages.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. Vocal score, PN51635, 4ff., 366 pages, French text, blind stamped 10/1894. Ownership dated Oct 31st, 1894 (19 days after the Paris premiere), a fine copy. Original boards. First edition of the second version, Hopkinson 63B. This is a special version of the opera made by Verdi for the Paris Opera, where it was given on October 12th, 1894. First edition to contain Act III ballet music composed by Verdi for the production and it also includes other revisions made by the composer. Size is 8.5 x 11 inches.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Premiered in Vienna in 1876, Fatinitza was Franz von Suppe´s first full opera and one of his biggest triumphs. Signed piano and vocal score, no year mentioned but circa 1879, listing the singers of the Paris premiere of 1879 - probably printed for the occasion. Boldly signed by the composer and inscribed to Scipion, one of the singers in the cast that night. Size is 7.75 x 10.75 inches, 238 pages, in fine condition.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Wagner: Tannhauser und Der Sangerkrieg auf Wartburg - Klavier Auszug, C. F. Messer, Berlin PN2676, WWV 70, 1876. Folio in original cloth. First edition of the revised version, Hopkinson, 5 A (a), with a rare jumbo photo portrait of Richard Wagner by Hafstaengel (which is almost always removed). Slight spotting, but this score with the original ornate binding is in excellent condition.

La Vie Parisienne was a very famous French magazine, continuously published for over a hundred years (until 1970), it covered novel, music, theater, the arts, politics and sports. Beautifully illustrated, this is a bound volume with 51 magazines from the first year of publication - each 12-page magazine is included in this volume, starting with Nr. 1 (Jan 3rd, 1863) through Nr. 52 (December 26th, 1863) - Only one is missing (Nr. 44). Directed by Emile Marcelin (1825-1887) for the first 24 years, the beautiful artwork of La Vie parisienne reflected the stylization of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, this was a highly successful publication in its time. Each magazine is 10.5 x 13 inches, all in good to very good condition with some rust, bound in one volume with hardcovers. See pictures of cover and some example pages.

Soft cover. Condition: Fine. First English edition of the score, printed by Novello (1882), of this oratorio by Charles Gounod. Signed by Gounod on the first page, score book comes with a program from the Birmingham Choral Society for a performance of The Redemption in 1905-06. The Birmingham Choral Society world premiered this oratorio in Birmingham in 1882. Score is 7 x 9.9 inches, 174 pages, in excellent condition, playbill is 4.9 x 8.5 inches - see scans.

First edition, complete collection of this rare satirical literary journal directed with many drawings by French illustrator Adolphe Willette (1857-1926). 51 issues from July 6, 1888 to September 20, 1889) including the special numbers at the end of the album, published two years after the bankruptcy of "Le Pierrot" - all real masterpieces of lithography. Each magazine is 11.5 x 15.5 inches, consists of two sheets in folio format, illustrated on the first page of a lithograph of A. Willette and for some issues, caricatures on the third page. Editor was Emile Goudeau. Adolphe Willette is inseparable from the Montmartre district where he decorated many cabarets, pubs and the famous Moulin Rouge. Painter first, he exhibited at Chat Noir after having participated in its creation. A controversial figure, Willette ran as an anti-Semitic candidate in the 1889 legislative elections in Paris. Bound in one hardcover volume, in very good condition. See examples of some pages and cover.

Signed by Ponchielli on the first page, inscribed to French painter Louis Roux (1817-1903), size is 8.5 x 10.8 inches, full book with 346 pages and covers. Some wear on covers, otherwise in very good condition. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Vocal score with autograph music quotation - First and final revised edition vocal score containing the Fabliau (to replace the Gavotte in Act III). Original guilt wrappers, including the variant for performance without a ballet, and the very rare "Annexe A" containing the Fabliau, composed in 1884 for the great soprano Georgette Brejean-Silver. This is the final version of Manon as revised by Massenet and the most authoritative printing of the opera. Light foxing, a few papges light loose, otherwise a remarkable copy with the very rare original semi-hard paper wrappers. BOLDLY SIGNED by Jules Massenet, who also wrote a short music quotation from the opera on the page facing the title page. 395 pages. Signed by Author(s).
