La Vie Parisienne was a very famous French magazine, continuously published for over a hundred years (until 1970), it covered novel, music, theater, the arts, politics and sports. Beautifully illustrated, this is a bound volume with 51 magazines from the first year of publication - each 12-page magazine is included in this volume, starting with Nr. 1 (Jan 3rd, 1863) through Nr. 52 (December 26th, 1863) - Only one is missing (Nr. 44). Directed by Emile Marcelin (1825-1887) for the first 24 years, the beautiful artwork of La Vie parisienne reflected the stylization of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, this was a highly successful publication in its time. Each magazine is 10.5 x 13 inches, all in good to very good condition with some rust, bound in one volume with hardcovers. See pictures of cover and some example pages.

First edition, complete collection of this rare satirical literary journal directed with many drawings by French illustrator Adolphe Willette (1857-1926). 51 issues from July 6, 1888 to September 20, 1889) including the special numbers at the end of the album, published two years after the bankruptcy of "Le Pierrot" - all real masterpieces of lithography. Each magazine is 11.5 x 15.5 inches, consists of two sheets in folio format, illustrated on the first page of a lithograph of A. Willette and for some issues, caricatures on the third page. Editor was Emile Goudeau. Adolphe Willette is inseparable from the Montmartre district where he decorated many cabarets, pubs and the famous Moulin Rouge. Painter first, he exhibited at Chat Noir after having participated in its creation. A controversial figure, Willette ran as an anti-Semitic candidate in the 1889 legislative elections in Paris.
