Ralph Crosby Smith provided the illustration for the frontispiece of the his hard cover with green boards and blue lettering and illustration of an airplane. This part of the Lucky Terrell Flying series. The boards have edge wear, and most of the dust jacket is present. However, a large section of the back panel of the dust wrapper is missing. There are also other small sections of the dust jacket that are missing or chipped. A previous owner's book plate is affixed to the decorated, with airplanes, past down. The paper is brown but not brittle. The dust jacket is now protected by a clear removable cover.

The board, board edges, and interior show wear, e.g. the board shows through the pictorial paper covers, the webbing can be seen at the front joint at the lower end of the spine, there is light spotting throughout the volume and the bottom margin of one of the leafs is torn in this 80 page children's book. However, the activities themselves are filled with diagrams, instructions and are easily read. There are black-and-white line illustrations throughout the volume and the text block remains firmly attached to the spine cover. There are no previous owner's names, pencil or crayon marks, and other than the small piece missing from the bottom of one leaf, the pages are intac.
