About the Author

Jos� Zorrilla (Valladolid, 1817-Madrid, 1893). Espa�a. Tras estudiar en el Seminario de Nobles de Madrid, fue a las universidades de Toledo y Valladolid a estudiar leyes y poco despu�s abandon� los estudios y se fue a Madrid. Las penurias econ�micas le hicieron a vender a perpetuidad los derechos de Don Juan Tenorio (1844), la m�s c�lebre de sus obras. En 1846, viaj� a Par�s y conoci� a Alejandro Dumas, padre, George Sand y Teophile Gautier que influyeron en su obra. Tras una breve estancia en Madrid, regres� a Francia y de ah�, en 1855, march� a M�xico donde el emperador Maximiliano lo nombr� director del teatro Nacional. Public� un libro de memorias a su regreso a Espa�a.
