Classics Illustrated Jr. #538: Silly Hans. HRN = 574. 32 pages. Softcover. Condition: Fair to Good. Except for crayon markings on inside of front cover (connect the dots) and an attempt to color the illustration on the inside of the rear cover, the interior is clean and free of tears, chips and stains; paper is moderately toned but not brittle. Binding is stable--staples are intact with some tearing of the cover at the staples but all pages are firmly attached; there is significant wear along the fold. Pictorial front cover is clean but worn. It has numerous shallow vertical creases and a batch of shallow random creases, with a 1-1/2" tear at the fore edge that goes through Hans's left shoulder, a 1/2" tear at the bottom edge, a tiny chip at the lower fore edge corner and some toning that is evident in the blue edges of the cover. Rear cover is reasonably clean with a 3-1/2" horizontal tear originating at the fore edge. Both covers have moderate-to-heavy toning. None of the tears are taped.
