New [i.e. fourth] edition, corrected and improved by the addition of nearly five hundred articles, 8vo, pp. xlviii & unpaginated lexicon in double column; contemporary half morocco over marbled boards, rubbed and scuffed, binding firm; a good copy or better. First published in 1774, the dictionary went through many editions over the following seventy-five years. The work is noted for its introduction into the world of lexicography synonomy, which prior to the first edition had not been treated in any English dictionary. Alston V, 287.
