Item description from seller

Quarto,291 pp.,colour plates, text illustrations, maps, fine copy in dustwrapper. The systematic section gives keys to the genera and species, with clear descriptions, and details of biology, flight periods, and distribution of all species found in Europe, with distribution maps showing national boundaries. Descriptions are augmented by numerous line-drawings which highlight diagnostic features of adult dragonflies. There follows a useful illustrated key to final-instar larvae of most European species. In addition to the 502 text figures, this book contains 29 fine colour plates, comprising 210 individual figures depicting both sexes of most species and their different colour forms. A most valuable feature of this book is the extensive section of nearly six hundred references to European literature.
